The Emily DeVore and Mabel Crumby Scholarship

The Emily DeVore and Mabel Crumby Scholarship is designed to support students who are dedicated to serving diverse student populations, particularly those who are from low-income backgrounds or are English Language Learners. This scholarship is intended for individuals pursuing careers in education, with a focus on those in the ChAD (Child Development) or Multi-Subject Credential programs. It honors the legacies of Emily DeVore and Mabel Crumby, individuals who have significantly contributed to the field of education and community service. The scholarship seeks to recognize and assist students who are committed to making a positive impact in underrepresented communities, particularly those located in Santa Clara County.

Eligibility

• Applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible for the Emily DeVore and Mabel Crumby Scholarship:

Enrollment Status:

• Students must be enrolled in the ChAD (Child Development) or Multi-Subject Credential program.
• For undergraduate or credential students, the minimum enrollment requirement is 6 units, while for graduate students, it is 3 units.

Minimum GPA:

• A cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 is required.

Service to Diverse Populations:

• Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

Field Placement:

• Have requested a field placement in a Santa Clara County school with a high percentage of students eligible for free/reduced-price meals and/or identified as English Language Learners.

Community Service:

• Have demonstrated extensive community service in a Santa Clara County school or other community agency that serves a population with a high percentage of students who are eligible for free/reduced-price meals and/or are English Language Learners.

• This scholarship provides a generous financial award to assist students in the College of Education as they pursue their academic and professional goals.
• The funding aims to alleviate financial burdens while supporting the scholarship recipient's commitment to working with diverse student populations in the Santa Clara County area.
